TIBET FOOD

The Horniman Museum and Gardens has an unusual collection of everyday Tibetan cooking utensils, collected in the early twentieth century. In 2013 I teamed up with members of London's Tibetan diaspora to produce a workshop exploring the collection and expanding on the relationship between food and identity. The workshop led to an ongoing partnership which informed the content of Tibetan displays which I was responsible for in the Museum's World Gallery. Although Tibetan material culture is well represented in museum collections in the UK, the workshop was the first methodical attempt to collaborate with the diaspora.
