In 2004 I spent two months on 'Joann Too' an Alaskan fishing boat. We were catching sockeye salmon as they came in from sea and began their arduous journey upriver to spawn. I kept this journal for the full two months and by the time we pulled our boat back out of the water, it was filled from cover to cover with densely written observations and drawings. I was 19 at the time and some of what I wrote really makes me cringe, but I think other sections ​have stood the test of time.
